Concept and design of an audiovisual installation for the Athens International Airport in Greece.
A virtual gate connects passengers and travel stories in this installation. The movement of passengers at the gate is the central visual theme of the video stream. The passengers become the performers. And the gate turns into a stage. Their moving about and their subtle gestures and activities while waiting are composited and morphed into a continous flow of overlapping movements.
The screens show real-time video sequences of waiting areas at different airports, including the waiting area of the viewer. Real-time images of waiting areas around the world are seen at all airport locations. Each video indicates the respective name and location of the airport, the local time and the outside temperature. Interviews are conducted at the various airports and are subsequently streamed at all airports.
Developed for the PR Department of the Athens International Airport in Greece in collaboration with Sebastian Harms.
